kinder Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 When a person has been drinking do you think they speak the truth? In my opinion a persons true feelings come out when they are under the influence. What do you think?
LucreziaBorgia Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 I don't know if being under the influence makes them more truthful or less - I think it makes whatever motivation they have for being truthful or not truthful stronger. If the motivation is to lie, when drunk they will lie harder, louder and adamantly. If the motivation is to be truthful, the truth will come across as blunt force trauma. No tact filters apply when drunk. Sometimes in cases of verbal slipups like "I love you" or "I hate you" said only under the influence, I think that it is a case of being truthful but only in the moment and situation under which it was said. Lose the moment and that particular situation, and it may no longer be applicable.
