What would it look like if a guy were to give a girl a friendly hug or a romantic hug? What's the difference between those two hugs?

indeed...when the hands reach down and squeeze the buttocks it is no longer a friendly hug

Friendly Hug - no kiss on the lips or cheek

Romantic Hug - with a kiss on cheek or on the lips even a deeper kiss with the tongue action he's really into you. Hands on the derriere (optional) I would do anyway hehehehe, that's me!

So what was your experience that brought you here?

In a friendly hug, the two people reach in but have their lower bodies held apart. The hug creates a kind of A shape.

In a romantic hug, you'll have full body contact.

Dayum, alpha. I thought you were a 'romantic'. It's 'fondle', not 'squeeze'.

Romantic: My arms around his neck, his arms around my waist. Tight hold and pelvises touching. Can be long...

Friendly: Lasts for some seconds, no full body contact, I usually put arms on their back

Friendly hugs are quick& upper body only.

Romantic hugs are longer, lingering, with some hand movement & lower body contact too. If the hips are aligned its more sexual.

I like hearing people’s opinions on this! I’ve had a guy I thought was a friend give me a big hug with a kiss on the cheek. I figured the kiss on the cheek meant “friends”. Ha! I would like to think that the romantic part has to do where his hands are. I think that if he has his arms around waist, that’s more “romantic” but I could be wrong. Arms around shoulders seems more “friendly” to me. But then there’s the whole bear hug thing which is very confusing...

Date #2 with a woman: we hugged afterward, she wrapped her arms around me tightly and caressed my back. I kissed her on the forehead, she kissed me on the cheek. Yay! Everything's good.

Date #3 with the same woman: date was incredibly uncomfortable (long story..) and I got an awkward A-frame hug afterward. No kisses afterward, she couldn't have gotten away quicker. F-ck. This went downhill fast.

I remember having a big night out with workmates. I hugged one of the guys I worked with goodnight and it was a bear hug and he responded "whoa - that was a 'real' hug". Whoops. Soz. I truly had no intention to make it that kind of hug.

She was odd from the very beginning of the third date..I asked her if she was alright afterwards and she said she was struggling with dating in general. I knew she had gotten out of a seriously abusive relationship (it made the media..) a few years earlier and it showed. We actually ended up dating for a solid six-seven months after that date but things moved very, very slowly..
