The winner of the pool is the one whos guess nails the wedding day... only trouble, is that you are the 'other' one... He doesnt work with me. You dont know me well enough to know if I'm likeable or unlikeable. I am trying to find a polite way of getting men I'm not interested in to leave me alone. What are subtle ways of doing so without making a scene or getting nasty. I think this post offends you b/c you may be the guy I'm talking about or very similar and socially awkward like him.

If you spot one, chat them up in private. See what's up. I ran into a lot of guys like this guy at the race track; the bloviators. It was the quiet ones who one would find grabbing a wrench when things went sideways. Just a nod and a few words and turn the wrenches and no desire for even a thank you. Normal. I’ve always been more aware of the quiet ones than the show boats. There’s usually a lot more going on in their heads. Yeah, I know there’s normal out there. I was being my usual sarcastic self.

Self-esteem issues, and that's not rare for anyone in his childhood circumstance. The car, his job, those help his self-esteem some, and that's how you gain self-esteem, from accomplishing things on your own. At the same time he's jealous of everyone else, though. I can't fathom any true friends who would advise you give this guy a try. He would be a nightmare to listen to day in and day out. 1
