Okay so I’ve made previous posts about my trust issues causing problems with my relationship. Long story short, I’ve been screwed over in the past and it has really caused me to not trust my new boyfriend and overthink everything he does.

We were doing good and i had thought i was past all the overthinking because i he never hid his phone from me, i was with him all the time, he never acted sketchy, etc.

Now he is in Puerto Rico working for 40 days so we are basically in a long distance relationship and now i feel the overthinking creeping back in.

He works 12 hours, 7 days a week outside in the humid and hot sun. So i try to understand and tell myself that he is tired and worn out and frustrated from being away from home and being away from his family and his child.

He’s told me he’s really upset and sad all the time because of all these things so i try to be understanding

But the overthinking part of my brain creeps in and makes me think that his down mood and lack of communication is something to do with me. I start thinking that maybe the time apart and the distance is driving him away from me. He tells me he’s down there working so he can provide for me and “our family”. (We aren’t married but he says we will be and he says he already considers me family)

I know i should be understanding and I’m trying but idk if my brain is just overthinking and making me think he’s behaving strange and distant or what.

All i know is i am worrying myself sick and i know he doesn’t want the extra stress of comforting me while he’s down there.

Yes,...you have insecurity issues. You just have to keep slapping that monkey down every time it pops it's head up. It is emotional "Whack-a-Mole", but it has got to be done. "Fake it till you make it" as the saying goes. It will get easier the more you do it and eventually it will be real and you won't be faking it any longer.

Been there, done that,...got the t-shirt, both socks, and the underwear. I still feel it once in a while, but it has less power over me every time.
