caenlaes Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Hello everyone! My new girlfriend invited me this Sunday to her place to meet her twin sister and their friend(they 3 live in a two-bedroom apartment). I should bring gifts, right? - I tought about chocolate. Should I bring all of them one big chocolate, or three identical smaller ones? Oh, and should my girlfriend get something special or should it be the same as the others get? Thanks for the tips, cheers!
d0nnivain Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 One box of chocolate or something for every one to drink should be fine. 1
lurker74 Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 OMG. Please do not bring chocolates. I mean, if going to visit them includes getting in a time machine and going back to 1954, then by all means. Otherwise, just no.

d0nnivain Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 just take them one big bouquet of flowers No because that is not share-able. Get something everyone can enjoy, wine, chocolates or pastries.
CrazyKatLady Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 I like the suggestion of one box of chocolates and something to drink-like a nice bottle/box of wine. I always do little gifts too! I love that! Good thinking.
alphamale Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 No because that is not share-able. flowers are share-able by everyone in the room who can see and smell them 1
d0nnivain Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 I think flowers work as a family gift if you get invited for the holiday. In this setting it will feel more like a gift solely for the GF not the other 2. Besides who would he hand them too? With a food gift, sharing is more implied.
alphamale Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 2. Besides who would he hand them too? he would hand them to whomever answered the door and would say "these are for all of you...". he would then proceed inside and ask for a cold beer
snowboy91 Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 These days I don't feel like bringing gifts to the home is a necessity. That being said, if you really want to bring a gift then you really can't go wrong with chocolates. No need to go overboard with fancy ones - something fun that they can share will do. 1
kendahke Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 (edited) What you bring is determined by what time you're to be there and if it's a meal you're sitting down to or just hanging out and talking. I could see chocolates as a compliment to desert or to have with liquor or coffee. Edited March 2, 2018 by kendahke

That is exactly what's wrong with "these days". Manner are always a good idea. If nothing else you will stand out from all those people who don't have any. 1

act00 Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 I say no to chocolate, but this is a "know your audience" thing. I think a bottle or two of wine, or if they like other drinks, what kinds? Maybe best to stay away from something that requires blending, though. If you're planning dinner, you could offer to bring a dessert. If your GF likes chocolate and you think it would go over well with sis and the friend, it's not a bad idea at all, but for me, I would prefer wine or if you're planning to watch movies or something or just hang out and talk, something to munch on.
