I'm just curious. I always get much more compliments from black people in general more than white people about my hair and I'm a natural blond as far as the color of it., You'd think among black americans blond hair would be more of an odd thing. Anyone have an idea?

I'm a bit curious as to why it matters?

Right, it is precisely bc it is an odd thing. It's very different from what they see in their family and maybe in their neighborhood, etc. For people who grew up around it and have it in their evetyday world and at home, its not that interesting.

ETA: Of course not all black people think and feel the same. Im sure there are plenty of black men who couldnt care less about blond hair.

Indeed. I tend to attract black men and am currently in a LTR with one and I'm not blonde.

Black men who date white women often do so for a variety of reasons that often go beyond just the physical. That being said, many who date outside their race do so because they favor contrasting skin color more than a specific hair color.

That and, as Gaeta pointed out, a nice booty.

Black men love a nice booty :p:D:bunny:

That makes sense I guess. I come from a state though where we have a lot of mixed families blond hair was never really out of place since many biracial people generally have blond hair but here out in the west it's a little more segregated than in the Midwest so I could understand that even though I do see some other blonde women who are biracial as well.

Lol no I'm Swedish I don't have a butt. I'm actually the opposite all weight goes to my boobs. I have my grandmother's body type just shorter but I am no pear and I'm very skinny. I look like my dad's side in every other way besides my body basically.

Generally though I get compliments from both black men and women on my hair. I guess though it may be the whole exotic quality of it I guess idk

Wait I just realize I didn't mention that in my op. I am not white. I am half black half white. I look black I'd say not white I'd say racially similar to like kat graham or Natalia kills those are the celebs I generally have randomly been told I looked like. I'm not light either I wear the same foundation halle berry is in Revlon. But anyway I always thought being blond was out of place honestly on someone with caramel colored complexion. But it actually has always seemed black people have been more fascinated with it. Generally. Which is what I don't understand. But I guess the exotic aspect of it.

Also I am have an average sized butt I'm a size 3 right now in juniors. I can still fit 0's and 1's if I slowly put them on. I'm called actually skinny because of this even though I'm not

Maybe it depends where you are located. European men have different taste in women than American men, or Caribbean men have different taste in women than Canadian men.

I am white and brunette dating a black man. Where I am from I have never heard black men were into blonds.

Then it would appear you answered your own question.

If you're a mixed race with blonde hair, you would definitely stand out as even more unique which would in and of itself draw attention from just about anyone.

Hell, I would probably stop and stare or even compliment you on your hair.

I can not at all surprised that black men would comment as it isn't very common to see a mixed race person with natural blonde hair making you extra special and intriguing.

Exotic would certainly be an appropriate descriptive.

Unless I'm getting it mixed up with someone else, I'm pretty sure Quincy Jones just discussed this in his recent infamously candid interview thevulture.com.

OP I agree with Michelle, It's not about 'blonds getting more attention, it's about you standing out and probably being breath taking. :D Enjoy the attention.

I think it's the "exotic" or the "otherness" of your person that attracts them. Blonde hair being a trait that makes you "exotic" or "other". But I would have to say that if you are blonde, that would make you more attractive to that particular type who likes exotic/other women to begin with. I am brunette, I can't say that I have ever gotten a lot of attention from black guys to begin with. Then again, I don't "feel that way" about them, and perhaps they sense that, if you know what I mean.

Yeah when it comes white or black guys I prefer white guys. Even though I like mixed or brown guys much more than either black or white. Yet people never seem to sense that. I remember talking to this girl at work who said it's usually assumed lighter skinned women tend to prefer darker men. I'm the opposite if I have to chose I'd prefer lighter than myself even though I generally would prefer a guy around my complexion I tend to be into guys that are like the male version of me. Even with white guys I prefer those who have the same facial set up to me more than those that don't. Which is probably why I prefer jewish guys over regular white guys. Even though there are things I don't have that I like in men but it usually is found in white guys over black guys like height and I have a crazy obsession with green eyes which is generally found in mixed or white guys than black guys... it's actually genetic my aunt is like that where the preference is in someone that's just the same just male. Generally I notice though black guys either mixed or fully black tend to pay more attention to my hair color. I have seen quite a few guys with blonde hair or sandy blonde hair who were black but still really liked my hair even though it was practically the same as mine.

That was a joke. But I do really like green eyes. Not just on people on animals and anything else with eyes. lol

Comes down to preference and rarity. I am an hour glass Latina with dark brown long curls and a large percentage of black and white men want to date me. I live in a neighborhood where latinas are less common.

well with beautiful women every guy wants that. I don't really think I am beautiful well to myself but it's weird I never thought I was pretty to women only in a way to attract men. Generally sucks though I get more black guys I'm not into. Generally I try not to be into anything right now.

funny. l've always preferred blondish / mousey my whole life.

But ex gf had black hair , first time ever , god l loved it.

Don't even bother looking at a blonde chick now.

For some opposites attract. I'm not black but I do find blondes with brown eyes attractive. I believe this is from my time I spent in Germany where I saw a lot of light haired brown eyed guys that I found very hot.

When I came back to the states I started noticing men with similar German characteristics above others.
