Would anyone be willing to write opening messages for me or help me write opening messages for OkCupid? I’m really bad at initiating, but am a bit better once a conversation starts going. I can send you links to profiles I want to talk to, and we can go from there.

As in an introduction to put on your profile? Is that what an "open message" means?

As in sending a girl a message

I've never done OLD but if it were me, I would talk about something in their profile I liked. That way the girl will know you've put in some effort. Hopefully, you can find something unique about her that no other guy has.

Tbh, I don't expect a lot of effort on the first message. Just Hi ... is fine. But every girl is different though.

hey ecarlson,

I think the best thing you can do is to write the message yourself as it will have a reflection of you in it, what you don't want is someone to say something and for that person to read it then meet you or keep up the replies only to think this doesn't sound like the person I was getting to know.

if you are unsure look at what others on the site say and how they open their introductions to others, not everyone is going to be confident and easy, some will be nervous, so just be yourself.

best of luck with this. I'm sure you will be ok, the fact that you are actually wanting to do something positive not just be passively wanting to meet someone but not doing anything to meet them is a good thing.

just have a bit more faith in what you are trying to do, you may meet someone you may not, but at least you are putting yourself out there and giving yourself a chance.

best wishes, maxi
