Shanex Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I'm a dude, so someone older than my mother would be late 60s. And no. I once hooked up with a 50 year old woman. Mind you, she was the one intiating, eventhough this didn't last. Creepy? I dunno. My current and recent girlfriend is 8 years older. I don't care one bit about age in this scenario. We haven't talked about children yet (!) But she is reaching critical age now.
Ruby Slippers Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Sexually, someone 20 years or more older cannot be too compatible or may lack the energy. I'm a little concerned about this. He's not 20 years older, but not far off. On the other hand, the men I've dated in the past year who are about 5 years older and I think would be the perfect age for me, mid-40s, in shape with a good sex drive, seem to want to keep playing as long as they possibly can. And this is with me screening hard for non-player, relationship-minded men. The closest I came was a 45-year-old who revealed after a few dates that he wanted me to be his primary with threesomes allowed. He was so close in every other way and pickings are so slim that I had to consider it, but ultimately I felt and couldn't do it. 1
CptInsano Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I was 17 years older in one of my relationships. It was more or less an accident, nothing I was looking for in particular,. It turned out to be quite beautiful but also eye opening. And at the end of the day it's hard to ignore that we were in different phases of life, as well as things worked on a day-to-day basis. 1
olivetree Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I prefer someone close to my age, that looks youthful and healthy for their age, like me. If you're posting about this, you must be curious about this dude and perhaps tempted to go there...

If I had to date again I think I'd become a nun instead. 2
swenann991 Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 What do you think about older men? I had a man older than my father let me know he was interested. (in a respectful way, which I can appreciate) It feels weird. I probably wont go out with him, but i would just like some opinions for future reference. I had greatest time of my life with older guy, so that is what I am thinking 3
Gold Pile Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 When I was 20 and drunk, I slept with a 28 year old woman. Yuck! it was like bedding my Grandmother or something. Really, I'd pay attention to how the idea makes you feel. It may make for a nice, new experience. Long term would eventually fail or be cut short. 1

Author shellybing Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 I feel like this is probably critical information, but I can't quite figure out what you mean. someone above asked about having children with a man that much older than me, and many mentioned goals and such. . . .

If you're posting about this, you must be curious about this dude and perhaps tempted to go there... well not so much with this particular dude. But I am 34, and find myself having more in common with men who are older and i would be curious to date someone in their early 40's. This dude is 4 years older than my dad, almost 60. omg. that is too much for me.
Author shellybing Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 . Well, there is the fact that it would be really awkard to bring him home to meet my father. If you are a young woman, do you want to have a child with a man who is old enough to be their grandfather? And, I am not interested in being a young woman in a relationship with an older man who has all the health issues of an older man... I wouldn't want to be caring for my children, my parents, and my husband. But, that's making a lot of assumptions... We don't know the specifics about your situation. Perhaps, it's different. I honestly just had to laugh at this because I don't "bring them home to meet my father." I am 34, an adult. I live in a different state than my parents, I already buried my mother. My parents wondering who I am out with, or whatever is the last thing I would ever think about. I wouldn't feel awkward because chances are, my partner will probably never meet my parents. I have a seperate life from them. I understand that is not the life for everyone, but I was always brought up to be independent. My father frowns upon me bringing home my dates, and I only confide in him about anything of the sort if I am in need of help because of abuse or something gone very awry.
Author shellybing Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 I just wanted to say thank you all for your responses. Can ya'll help me shut it down? Because "I think your great, but you are too much older than I am." is not really shutting down the hints. I would like to still be friends with the guy, I am sure we hang around the same people and groups, so I don't want it to get awkward. I prefer to be nice, but I am fearing I will have to be more firm if it continues.

Tell him this I'm kidding, but just be honest with him that you're not interested in him romantically and don't want to waste his time in that fashion.
winny Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 This is a very personal decision as to what age works for whom. There are happy and unhappy couples in all sort of age ranges - regular as well as celebrities. Older doesn't necessarily mean creepy and disaster in the waiting and younger doesn't necessarily mean happily ever after. 1

At 34 you'd be far more compatible with someone in the 35-40 age bracket. 1
caveman621 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Sex with older men is AWESOME!!! Specifically age 55. Yeah, I just had a birthday!

carhill Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 OP, I noted in a previous post that you want to shut this down but want to be nice about it and remain friends.... Hmm, guys my age (the age of the man here apparently) generally don't mess around with the friends with women we're attracted to thing. However, guys my age are more likely to be 'persistent' and not take no for an answer because that methodology was in general successful for us in mating with women of our generation. Hence, be polite but firm, cut him off and block contact. He won't be offended IMO. Guys my age meet attractive women every day. There's always another one. It's a great time to be alive and healthy. 2
William Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Did a little housekeeping here as things had strayed pretty far from the intended topic. If you notice a bunch of your posts missing, go back and look at the original topic and try again. ~T 1
