Oh, I totally get that... I do that as well.

I was just wondering how "who quit first" matters. I mean, is it like a win vs. lose situation? Like whoever quit first wins.. or is it a situation where you are trying to figure out if they still want you.

The way I see it, it is not about who WINS or LOSES. A break-up between two people who ever cared for one another is an emotional and heart-breaking event. Yes, there is anger, but sadness becomes an emotion that both parties are very much affected by. Sometimes we discover just how petty we are or have been after a break-up. Teaching/learning moment. We MUST learn from the mistakes and do our best not to repeat them for the next relationship.

No, sir, not about who wins or loses. My marriage failed for reasons that my ex, I hope, is now starting to see and accept. It wasn't b/c of some concocted mental disorder or b/c there was no real love. The hardest thing is to admit your own part in what could have been a wonderful relationship. It is also difficult to admit that perhaps, perhaps, neither or you were ready in the first place to have a relationship.

When two people lose one another in a break up, both have lost. Provided there was true love present, yes, both lose.

I totally agree.

What I don’t understand OP is why you would blatantly lie to this man? Were you trying to hurt him? I don’t see the point in saying you were happy and moved on when it was obvious that wasn’t the case.
