Dude599 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 I was on the phone and my close female coworker tapped my arm to get my attention. I looked up to see what she wanted and She wanted me to cut a string off her sweater. I thought huh. So I cut her string on her arm and I continue to chat with a client on the phone. I realised that we are close and she trusts me. I was dumbfounded on why she asked me to do a very simple task that she could have done it herself. So, is that Because she trust me or secretly likes me? I told my roommate about it and he thought it was very odd.
Iseult Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 I told my roommate about it and he thought it was very odd. Very odd indeed, unless she’s from the Dogon tribe. The women there have a tradition where they ask men of age to cut a piece of thread from their clothing which signifies their maturity and growth towards becoming an independent woman. The one thing I don’t get is why she was wearing a sweater because women from the Dogon tribe are topless.
act00 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Cutting a string off a sweater is kind of a two-handed job, one hand to hold tensile strength to the string, and the other to cut the string. A second issue is which arm. If the dangling string was on the right arm, and she would have to cut the string with her left hand, and she's a righty, she would need some assistance. Third issue, a useful second person can cut the string without cutting it too short or cutting a hole in the sweater. These acts could be that it was a lot easier to get assistance from a coworker rather than having to leave the floor to go to the bathroom to disrobe and cut the offending string. I don't know that this is a reason to believe this is a sign of interest. I suppose it could be. Were there no other coworkers to help, particularly those not engaged with a customer or on the phone? What else is going on that makes you think there's some interest?
