Today I gave my 9 month long friend my number as we were parting ways with new ventures. He responded really kindly, face lit up with a smile, said thank you and called me a champion. Are these positive signs that he genuinely took to my gesture well? I’m bad at reading signals, hence the post

Hard to say, but at least he is friendly and responded positively. That's all you can expect, really. Now he has to take the next step.
