A month before the break up, my ex's mom made me a cake for my birthday, and she gave me the rest of it in one her (slightly expensive) cake carriers. I still had it after the break up along with my ex's and his families gifts that I had already bought. I decided to message his sister (to maintain no contact) in order to give her the items. I was super anxious leading up to the meeting, but the actual one was very successful. She, of course, asked what happened, and I gave her a quick and vague (but polite) response to avoid talking about it. His sister mentioned that their family was not very happy with my ex because they liked me quite a lot, but I tried to reassure her that everything was okay. One thing that was interesting was that she said that he has been by himself at their lake house ever since the break up. I know that breaking up with me was hard on him, but I didn't realize how much of an impact it had on him. His reason was that he had too much going with school and family. Anyways, thank you for listening! This forum is really helping me get through this break up. It's only been a week on NC and the break up, but I've been having less "dark moments" everyday
