so I'm seeing this guy, we're not looking for a relationship as he has anxiety/depression issues that make it hard for him to be in a relationship. We like each other and have said we will continue to see each other as we always have a great time when we go out. Thats fine for both of us.

I have suffered with anxiety/depression in the past but have done some hard work on myself to be a positive person and find what works for me. I have also been on the other side of it with an ex who had bad depression, really bad (eventually I had to leave as the only way he would do any form of self help was if I wasn't there to help him - we are best friends now).

So for the new guy I have made a Happy Jar - basically a mason jar filled with happy positive quotes. Idea is that you take one out each day and hopefully it gives you a little bit of a positive start to the day. They are all affirmation quotes/positivity stuff, no mushy stuff, nothing to do with feelings. I genuinely just want to give this gift as something that may help him. I don't want anything (gift or feelings or anything) back, I just have a big heart (with everyone) and like making people smile.

Is this gift too much?

No it's very thoughtful.....

Too much is a $600 watch or a mushy card.

No, I think that's sweet. Give him an empty jar, too, and suggest he write on the back of each slip of paper something good that happened that day, even if it's as simple as "I had a delicious piece of cake." :)

Too much in what way?

I suppose the wrong person could take it as why are you messing around in my life / psyche but otherwise it's simply a kind gesture.
