My ex broke up with me about 4 days ago, and I have been maintaining no contact and finding ways to keep myself occupied. I've had my up and downs, but I'm looking forward into the future.

I had already complete my Christmas shopping a couple weeks prior to the break up because I didn't want it to stress me out during or after my finals. I also have his mom's cake container she lent me when she made me a birthday cake a month ago. I decided to reach out to his sister to set up a time to give all of these things so I can avoid seeing him for now.

She was so sweet over text, and said that she was going to give me the present that she and her mother had already purchased me. My ex already gave me the gift he got me so that works out To be honest, I'm a nervous and a bit anxious about this meeting. I'm hoping to bring a friend just in case. Any words of encouragement and advice would be nice.

Don't overthink it or put any expectations on the meeting. I'm sure you'll just exchange things and be done with it. Don't ask her any questions if you can help it, but let her know you appreciate her being the middleman so you can keep NC. It sounds like shes really cool so you won't want her to feel ambushed by a bunch of questions..

Short and (bitter)sweet is my advice.

If meeting a family member is such an issue, organise a time to leave the items outside their house and then they collect them when you go. Why must you receive this present? I would be politely declining..

Keep it short & sweet. Hand her the stuff. Get your stuff. Wish her & the rest of the family Happy Holidays. Thank her for effectuating the exchange. Say good bye & leave. Do not attempt to discuss your relationship with her.

When you leave go somewhere save to self soothe. (Translation: have ice cream in the freezer for when you get home).
