mokymoky Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Hello all! This Christmas I’ll be meeting my boyfriends family and staying with them for about 10 days. I’m at a loss for what to get both my boyfriend and his mom! He has already indicated he has purchased me several presents and said “I can’t wait to give them to you” I’m finding it hard to shop for him though, as he has money and when he wants something he buys it! I know he loves videos games, comics, etc but want to give him a meaningful gift since he can already buy something he wants. As for his mom, My bf told me she was planning on getting me presents and she asked for my clothing size etc. I know I need to get her something, but don’t know where to start since this will be my first time meeting her. P.s. if it helps, we have been together almost a year. (His parents live far away which is why I haven’t met them yet). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Dis Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Awwww this is a good dilemma to have! Does your bf like practical gifts or sentimental gifts? My bf likes both so I got him a mix. His mom is very sentimental and lovesss Christmas so I'm making her a Christmas decoration. For your bf, I would go with the video game/comic theme. Is there a rare comic out there that he wants or could add to his collection? Maybe frame a pic of you two and paint the frame as a video game controller. Like the old Nintendo controllers. I've always found that when you dont know what to get someone you dont know well, get them a Christmasy gift (assuming they're into Christmas). I dont know why but it usually goes over well. Maybe get his mom some kind of Christmas decoration or a Christmas candle. Just my two cents, I go way overboard with Christmas gifts
Lobouspo Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Give him something simple andd sentimental that only you could give. My gf recently gave me pics of us in some real nice picture frames. I thought it was a great gift 1
alphamale Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 for bf get him tickets to a concert or sporting event that he may like. for mom find a spa near her and buy her a gift certificate for pedi/mani/massage/etc... 1
mortensorchid Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Maybe a sweater or a hoodie? Sentimental gifts, I find are risky things for a woman to give a man. But a sweater or a hoodie is practical. I gave a man jewelry (a bracelet) as a Christmas gift, I don't regret that, but since that was so long ago ... I don't know about what I would or would not give today.
d0nnivain Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Have a holiday flower arrangement sent to the mom in advance of your arrival. Get the mom a nice scarf, some leather gloves & some perfume . . . personal but not too personal. As for your BF . . .don't go too crazy or too over board especially if it's your first Christmas together. Do go with the classics: something he loves, a sweater, something to eat, gloves or a scarf, maybe a new wallet or backpack /satchel. Do not get him anything that you wouldn't want his parents to see Christmas morning.
todreaminblue Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 my exes mother could only wear estee lauders beautiful perfume....everything else on her she said smelt like vanilla extract.......its the only perfume she ever wears......maybe you can do some stealth work and find out if she has a signature scent ...ask your bf if he can find out....like a mission....... and instead of buying the perfume buy matching products like body lotion or hand cream...because rest assured those who know her will probably buy the perfume......or buy her a really pretty scarf like donnivain suggested and ill add to that idea.....spray that scarf with her signature scent......and wrap it straight away.....so when she opens the pressie her signature scent ....wafts around her.......or if her signature scent is flowery you could match the flower with the scent and get a big bunch of them... as far as your bf goes how about making a book of ious.....with coupons for special things.... like movie night coupon.....my treat coupon....your fave dinner......a back massage coupon.......get out of jail free coupon(when he really annoys you he can use one i would suggest including ten of these....)......a game night together..wash your car coupon.........its limitless....you could do weekly ones.....or fortnightly or daily depending on what you want to give...make them funny... sweet... loving...or caring do the whole thing........a gift that keeps giving.... im waiting for a guy who would appreciate a bonsai as a present......smilin....or my iou gift.....a guy who would appreciate that...you might think my ideas silly so ill stop they are a bit goofy........i wish much luck and hope you choose the perfect gift that suits them both....good luck...deb......
