Hey forum, would appreciate some advice on this one. :)

This would've be the 5th date tonight but she cancelled this morning at the start of her work shift and her text was:

"I ****ed up with work - double booked myself and have to work the night shift tonight. So that cancels our plans, sorry!".

I replied with:

"Ohh damn, would you like to try for tomorrow night instead?"

What are my chances here? It seems other advice suggests to play it cool and let her reschedule another time.

Don't know...if you are in the U.S. then Thanksgiving and Black Friday may take precedent.

If you are in another part of the world, I got nothing.

I really would not worry about it. If she had to work, then she may have had to work. Incidentally I have to work tonight and I'd rather not but I drew the short straw. So it is not out of the realm of possibility.

Thanks :)

She's from Canada, but we're in NZ so I suggested we make pumpkin pie for our date tonight as she has fond childhood memories of it. Thought it would be a killer date idea.

She came back and said "Sure :)" then Asked If I wanted to go to Cirque du Soleil with her. So all is well.

Just me getting in my head too much  Something I'm working on.

Appreciate your help though :)

No worries, if she is a nurse or doctor this will happen more than you think. Go for it and trust her. Oh, and don't let her go, nurses are amazing people who deserve a lot of love and respect !

Haha, there is probably some truth to that. I work 80+ hour weeks and feel it when my free time is jeopardized.

Not everyone who works in a hospital is a nurse or doctor, I work in a hospital and I'm neither....but I do still do shift work and believe I deserve respect too. People who work in healthcare generally do it because they want to help others.

OP- I wonder if she works at the same hospital as me? I'm in NZ too not far from Swanson. ;-)

Hope the date goes well, enjoy!

Those who work in caregiving jobs don't get holidays off. Last year I was working at a group home for the developmentally disabled as a caregiver and I had to work on Thanksgiving Day. I would have worked Christmas Eve and Christmas Day if I didn't quit the job first.

Let her reach out and reschedule.
