I moved to a new town for a role because I wanted a shot at a first senior position. I left my previous role because after 4 years I wasn't given the opportunity to manage others. At my age, I need to start getting senior management experience.

When I began I found my role had been changed from the one I interviewed for. It was comparable to my previous role but did have some management responsibility which would start I was told within the first six months. That time has now passed and I just found out I won't be managing that person.

Essentially, I am hurt and feel like I have been tricked. I was nervous to begin with as I have never managed anyone before and now this set back has dented my confidence further. I am introverted but I have never felt that that should be a barrier to being a manager.
