Persephone06 Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 Hello guys, So, I am basically here to vent my petty human concerns and use you guys as a form of therapy (hell, I can't afford a real therapist ). The story goes like this: it was once upon a time that I dated this particular individual. Things got sour quite quickly (we were both selfish and immature) so we decided to put an end to the whole ordeal. Fast-forwarding the timeline 3 years later, this dude decides to contact me again and rekindle the whole thing. Not a lot of talking was had which I assume led to miscommunication. We eventually did the deed once again. It was quite bland and it felt impersonal so I shared this feedback with him. I wasn't quite expecting a relationship to come out of it, but perhaps was looking forward to some civility and mutual benefits - who knows? Things did not go according to plan so the dude went silent for about 2 weeks - procedure also known as ghosting. I got pissed off quite quickly and blocked him from social media without attempting any further communication. Moving on, I discovered after a while that he befriended people from my workplace. He seemed keen to tell them about me and our former interaction. Apparently he also mentioned the fact that I wasn't interested in him; odd thing to say anyway. I thus pretended I had no acquaintance of him whatsoever in order to save face (and perhaps get back to him on the ghosting thing). He kept blabbering about the part in which he was dating me, maybe because he got a bit mad/hurt since I pretended it never happened. So are we both dysfunctional or what? I am not even sure what my question is in fact. Thank you for listening/reading anyway.
d0nnivain Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 Him contacting people from your work is beyond dysfunctional. It's creepy & borderline stalkerish. Hopefully your co-workers will see him for the out of bounds person that he is. As for you, learn to stop going tit-for-tat to everyone who slights you. 1
Author Persephone06 Posted October 1, 2017 Author Posted October 1, 2017 Thank you for your insights. I think you're right in saying this type of behaviour from his part is a bit stalkerish (although I think he might have already been friends with one of the guys from work, as they are part of a nerdy social circle). I will also keep in mind your suggestion about being less vindictive. Thank you.
