My ex walked out on me and broke my heart, [she didn't approve of my smoking weed].

I have been dating a new girl that's AMAZING, she's funny, smart, very pretty (like Victoria's secret model pretty) and she smokes even more weed than I do, so it's not a problem.

But I can't seem to shake feelings for my ex . I can't stop comparing my current GF to my ex.

My heart says "Go back to you ex and beg her to take you back"

but my head says "Your GF is deeply in love with you, why go back to a woman who doesn't accept you"

Which side to listen to??

Your head. You will loose both the woman you have now and never get the old gf back if you listen to your heart. Fact.

(IMO) You listen to reason. You need to take time to get over the ex....completely.

If the new amazing girl has fallen for you, ugh.....you need to let her go as this is not fair to her.

However, if you two are just "dating" and having fun with no intent for a true committed relationship, I don't see why you can't have someone to hang out with. Just be honest with your feelings and let her decide. (IMO)

Sounds like self-sabotage.

Why be with a great girl that accepts & likes you when you can be with a controlling woman that broke up with you when you didn't do as she wanted?

I'm going to go against the grain here. I think you should break up with your current girlfriend and *not* go back to your ex.

Because your poor current girlfriend sounds like a rebound. You're not into her. You *think* you should be into her, because she's such a great catch. The truth is you're not. You haven't finished properly healing from your ex.

If you're still thinking about getting back together with an ex, you're not in the right head space to grow a new relationship.

You will end up wasting this new girls time and break her heart even worse if you continue. You can't *make* yourself feel a certain way and you can't *think* your way into love.

It sucks man, but it's a road I've been down myself more than a few times. Save her and yourself the pain. Let her go.

You say your head tells you to stay with this woman you are with because she's making you happy. And your heart is telling you to get back the old gf. That's not your heart that's talking - that is a depressive chemical that is making you botch things up. You're going to MAKE it come true because it's easier for you to accept that it's all going to come to ruin, and you're going to RUIN it with the woman before you no matter her character. And you're going to be super sad and lonely crying "whoa is me", and you have no one to blame but yourself for it.

Stop this chemical by being with the new woman, get rid of all things that remind you of the old gf, and MOVE FORWARD not back. You're not a victim, don't make yourself into one.

Timeline please. When did you break up with the ex? When did you meet the new girlfriend?

Where/how does your current girlfriend fall so short that you're left with comparing her to your ex and being unable to shake your feelings for your ex?

Your ex who walked out on you, broke your heart and doesn't approve of your weed smoking--which, if you really loved her, you would have stopped doing and would most likely still have that relationship. Any reason why you didn't do that?

Where she falls short: she's not the one who crushed his ego. The one he can't have
