Is she hinting she's single?

So I was talking to this girl I see regularly here and there. I was telling a story about sibling.

 

She then mentions her ex in an unrelated story, not exactly on topic of what I was talking about but similar. She then muttered quietly about him now living in another country.

 

Now, is she hinting that she’s single? or was she just being chatty? She could have not said “ex”. She could have said a friend or someone she knows rather than ex.

 

Is this a tactic to hint about her status? its suspicious to me. we have done the flirty thing for a while but its too early to tell and she is new in town.
