I still feel committed and it makes it hard to move on, 2.5 years later

Today I realized that although I have zero interest or even respect for my ex-fiance, to the point where I can't even feel anger towards him - I basically feel nothing - I still feel "committed" to him. I am having a lot of trouble believing I'll ever have a serious relationship again because I truly had committed to him, heart and soul. The only person I'd ever felt this way for, and I felt SURE. But those of you who have ready my story will know that he "never loved me" and that I completely misunderstood the situation. Terrible thing to go through.

 

Has anyone ever successfully gotten past a broken engagement in which you felt totally sure that you'd never be with anyone else again, and gone on to have another serious relationship? How did that happen for you?

Some contradictory absolutes in there. I think you should be mad at him. Also, you just haven't bumped into the right one yet who will knock the last shards of that attachment out of your head. Be patient.
