CoolJoe Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 It depends on each person's personality and preferences but how do you feel about your date cursing a bit early on? Specifically the s word. Not the f word per se. I sometimes use the S word outside of a working professional environment. I don't mind if my date does, either. Just wondering what people here think of it. I get not wanting to make a bad early impression but I think it's also kind of good to be yourself and see if you'll gel with someone without being overly "fake" early on.
d0nnivain Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Unless the curse word is hurled at me or someone else, I'm probably not going to even notice. "Ah s***, I forgot my wallet!" isn't going to phase me. Somebody who sprinkles every sentence with an expletive will quickly convince me he/she has a limited vocabulary which will send me packing but a well placed occasional curse won't even register. Like many things, it's about compatibility. Some people don't mind salty language, others will be horrified if you take the Lord's name in vain or if you so much as say "aw fudge." 1
act00 Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 I don't really care as long as it's not in abundance. Some people use every cuss word imaginable in every sentence. They can't seem to speak at all without tossing in cuss words. Too much cussing is a turnoff. The s-word is pretty tame. I really wouldn't think much of it unless, as I said, it was way too plentiful. If someone is so demure the occasional naughty word has them up in arms, you might want to rethink things. Overall, we function in polite society, especially on a first date, but I don't mind a sprinkle of naughty words in a social setting. 1
grays Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Some cursing is a positive. Im not excited to spend time with someone too uptight to say s___ or even f___. But if theyre really vulgar or cursing in anger at someone, it would be a turn off.
Els Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 I have zero issues with cursing (as long as it's in "appropriate" situations - not in front of kids or a professional audience!).
