What YOU can do as the person who has never been married/divorced is to not ask many questions about it and what did/didn't happen to lead to the divorce. In the beginning stages that is. It's not your business at this point. Over time when you know him a bit better, you can ask a few questions, but keep it at a distance. Just realize this person had a life before meeting you (as everyone does / did) and you should consider that. A word about it, however ... You are not going to "fix" anything and it's not your job to fix anything. Best of luck.
