Running into old co-worker on OLD

Hello all,

 

While browsing through the OLD site I have a account on, I realize the profile I am looking at belongs to a girl I used to work with. She has dark sunglasses on her thumbnail picture and I was only able to recognize her after clicking on her profile and going through her pictures.

I couldn't but feeling kind of awkward for running into someone I know IRL. We worked for the same school 2 years ago, but never worked closely together. We used to say "good morning" and smile at each other. We chitchatted maybe 2 or 3 times in the year I spent working at that place..

She's not uninteresting, but I never had her in mind as a romantic prospect since I didn't know she was single. Though I no longer work with her, and I am in a whole different field now, she lives like a few streets from me and the probability to run into her at one point is real.

I thought about not saying anything to her, and I also thought about dropping her a friendly line like "How have you been?" not to come across as weird.

What would you do?

Sure, if you like her, why not? That's what OLD is for and you don't work with her anymore.

Presumably you are in the market for somebody to date & so is she -- hence you both have profiles on a dating site.

 

 

If you think you might like to go on a date with her, by all means message her. Do remind her that you worked together & where. If you just want to say hi, don't bother.

 

 

Since you do know each other & you presumably don't have to go through that "meet to make sure they are not an axe murderer & do look like their picture" preliminary stage, offer up a bit more substantial first meet then just the standard coffee.

If you like her you might as well. The fact that you were once coworkers is not really relevant, save for the fact that maybe you somewhat knew each other before this encounter. So reach out and say hello,you have nothing to loose.
