Not a chance.

Someone in 1917 was raised differently and taught completely different interpersonal skills because they weren't stuck staring at a cell phone, iPad, or computer screen. Their circles of influence were also smaller and which enabled them to devote more attention to actually meeting and engaging people.

Social Media - while providing the largest reach in the history of man - conversely amplifies laziness, distractions, and the illusion of endless choice.

OK, so that certainly applies to someone who's a teen or younger right now. But for someone who's in their mid twenties or later, they had many formative years where social media was not the juggernaut that it is now.

Let's put it this way: There are people I've known for years who have always connected well with others. Their ability to connect hasn't been wiped out by the emergence of social media.

Being familiar with the OP, I really don't think her ability to relate or connect with people is chiefly the fault of technology and social media.

There have been several times our area has lost power, the most recent was for about 48 hrs.

No electricity or wifi...people were losing their stuff, not only younger people, but at least the older crowd were able to pull themselves together.

OP, what would life be without social media? Painful for some, inconsequential for others. Life without the opposite sex would deplete our species for sure. :p

Neither would be horrible but wowza...if anyone wants to hit us hard, take out a regional grid. Those with chickens and gardens will be popular.
