Conundrum

Hello everyone! This will be my first post, seems like a good community to ask for advice and perspective, which i would really appreciate right now.

 

Allow me to premise my issue with some background information so you all understand my situation. I'm 27, have been single for 3 years now and am very comfortable being on my own in that sense.I have close friends and hobbies that I love very much and am currently getting a degree, so i don't think my problem is stemming from loneliness or emotional instability. I should also point out i don't date much, not for lack of confidence but because I haven't met many people i want to be romantic with. Sapiosexual would be a good term for me.

 

I'll cut the chase and give you gals/guys my current predicament. In the place i work i like to mess with coworkers in silly ways to see how they react and what not, break social expectations and what not, as i find that rather interesting. One new female co worker I was interacting with reacted to my strange puns, hypothetical moral dilemmas in a very positive way, more so than most for about a minute to 5 minutes at a time. Over the course of the week we interacted more and more in unique ways like silly voices, weird conversational topics, scaring each other for fun and what not, really amazing chemistry that is very obvious. Eventually we started talking about life, philosophy and our perspectives, her passion, book interests, creativity and intelligence really struck a chord in me. After about a week and a half i asked her if she'd like to have coffee. She turned bright red and said yes she would like to, then began walking away. she turned around quickly and says that she has a boyfriend, and would like to smoke pot with me and him. She then walked away.

 

Anyways, I thought to myself, well if she has a boyfriend at least we can just talk about interesting stuff while at work, and i dropped the issue in my mind. Nothing changed in our behavior, in fact we started making eye contact quite often and hold eachothers gaze from across work for a couple seconds at a time. We also started talking over facebook about life for a couple hours a day; what we were all about, how we say the world, intimate things. Additionally another co worker i have never met came up to and started conversing with me for no apparent reason. Turns out this is the girl's mother, and she tells me that her daughter thinks i'm attractive and nice and to not tell her she told me this.

 

I took this as a cue that perhaps i might actually have a chance with this girl, perhaps her relationship is on the rocks. The mother has talked to me several times after this about what her daughter's favorite books are and such. After about two weeks have this eye contact, facebooking and talking, the girl says over facebook that she wants to meet up in her fort in the woods. But after i gave her times i could meet up, she drops the subject and stops facebooking me for the last 4 days. At work she has been very tired looking and quite distressed, so much so she left work because she wasn't feeling well. Its at about this point that it occurs to me I really like this girl a lot.

 

I mean i have the whole confused emotional chaos going on over the last 4 days, can't sleep well can't eat well, the whole shebang. Thankfully i'm going on vacation for two weeks, which is perfect timing. But i want to know what you guys think about this situation, am i reading into her behavior? Why would the mother tell me this stuff about her daughter out of the blue? Outside perspective would appreciated.

She's playing with fire. She has a BF but doesn't have enough backbone to end things with him so she's free to start up with you. Also to simply blurt out to a work colleague that she wants to smoke pot with you seems irresponsible. Legal or not it could get her in trouble at work.

 

 

You do nothing until you are sure the BF is history.
