I'm stuck in the past. I'm now in a loving relationship, want to move out of my home state, and move on from everything I'm familiar with and start anew. The regrets I have are stupid things from high school I did, how I acted in college, bad friends I've tried to cling to--I just want to move on from my past self.

When I go on these social platforms I see an old friend or colleague I use to talk to when I was younger and get sad or frustrated. No one keeps all the friends they had, right? I'm on Facebook only to use messenger as I have friends from different parts of the world. Other than that..it just makes me sad...idk...

Change your settings to make list of friends private and either unfriend everyone from your past you no longer want to see or keep them as friends but block what they can see and what you can see.

I've been off Social Media a little longer than a month now and I don't regret it one bit.

still you can not suppress friends suggestions ; FB suggested multiple times friends to me who are exs; because they come from same college .

I was able finally to solve it last year :

I deactivated my FB account .

Delete the app from your phone and only keep the messanger app.

Or better yet - delete your entire facebook, let someone else change your password or change it yourself to some random string of characters, and go on with your life how you said you want to. Try it for a little while. Move on from everything you are familiar with and start anew - and you can make another FB in the future if you want, once you're established elsewhere and have a new life. Or you may find that you don't even want to.

By all means just get off social media if you aren't enjoying it. I keep hearing studies on the radio saying it's increasing depression in people. You can just tell people "I got tired of it and too busy for it." You can also just unfollow and block people, but that really is burning bridges.

Why not just clean up your FB page to make it more reflective of who you are now?
