fiskadoro Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 I am not currently dating anyone, though I am involved in a somewhat rekindled relationship with an ex (who lives in another country but will move here depending on how we progress) and various flirtations. Much of my (potentially romantic) contact with women these days is via text, and I dislike the false sense of comfort and familiarity texting breeds. How can I politely tell people that I have been happily texting that I no longer wish to text nearly as much and would prefer (for the most part) phone calls? I don't want to go into a hermitage, but even if it cuts back on the frequency of communication, I believe it will increase the quality. And, weed out the women who are just killing time waiting to have their oil changed, nails done, etc.
kendahke Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 I'd say exactly what you said here. That you only use texting to confirm plans and prefer talking on the phone and that is how you intend on proceeding with them. If they balk, then you know they're the ones killing time.
Redhead14 Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Pick up the phone and call the person and then say "hey, you know Xname, I prefer to talk on the phone more often and text less because of XYZ". Simple -- Communicate.
smackie9 Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Don't respond to their stupid, meaningless texts. Then pick up the phone and call them in the evening say like after work like the olden days. They will get the hint. 1
