(btw. i am a guy!) my inclination would be to run for the hills. a male that has not been through the experience of sex with a female for 40 years of his life might have a lot more going on physiologically than just bad luck in the dating game. you will/would be his first (if he is telling the truth). I had posted about this before as I had encountered a few guys who were older virgins. One did not have sex until he was 29 (he's now 37). Another did not until he was 23 and another until he was 28. How do I know this about the other two? Because I was the first woman they had ever been with - they told me, I knew going into it, and I said okay. Someone jumped on me once in a posting I had made about this that I am thinking like a woman and I don't understand how hard it is for guys to get laid. I realized after that that yes, I was. I'm fairly odd, I can admit that. But I approach every situation with people knowing that this is a new story and a new dynamic that will be created. It's gotten me into trouble more times than I care to admit now, but that's another thread. Whatever it is that person brings to the table is how it will unfold. As for their reasons why? It MIGHT be a lack of confidence, lack of finding someone willing to do IT with them. And ... Like a few others I have encountered, sorry to say, might have been gay and they are/were not sure about it. I've heard tales of people (men as well as women) who realized they were gay later in life rather than in their teens, actually lived with a bf/gf as bf/gf (as in sleeping in the same bed with them) and they never had sex. The way I approach this as a male is, In your 20s and 30s, you were a lot better looking and younger and virile then you are in your 40s. if you couldn't have found a woman who was attrackted to you and wanted to sleep with you in your 20s and 30s, well what were you doing exacrtly and what was wrong with you? whatever was wrong with you didn't magically disappear in your 40s. if anything, it would have gotten worse. you become older, more opinionated, more stuck in your ways as you age. Just about any woman can figure it out before there's sex by his body language. Most all women will know he's at least very inexperienced within minutes of meeting him. Yes, most can tell he's inexperienced, but he's the only one who knows technically he's a virgin. When a woman likes you, all your "imperfections" will appear cute to her.
