Recently my gf accidentally compare me with my brother about my look and i kinda hurt by her comment. It suddenly put a standard that i have to reach. Worst i feel it's a small matter but i couldn't move on because it's a comparison with my brother. Ive talked to her and she apologize about it but i still couldn't forget about it. I always felt comparing is forbidden in relationships as it can stir some envy,jealous or dissatisfaction issues which can cause problems. I was wondering, has anybody face same problem? how do you guys move on from it?

JusttMe Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Comparison in terms of physical appearance or personality? I jokingly compared my boyfriend to a famous person that I think is very attractive. It was intended as a joke but when it came out, it didn't really seem like a joke. I felt really embarrassed and bad for letting him feel down. He told me it was rude of me to say and I apologized profusely.. did I mention I felt bad about it? I wouldn't think of it as a standard for you to reach. She's with you because she wants to be with you. I mean, unless she said it as an insult as the guy above me mentioned. I would never expect my boyfriend to try to be more like the person I brought up. It's like if a guy checks out a girl he's not thinking, "man I wish my girlfriend has an ass like her" or whatever lol. Same thing when a girl is thinking of another guy.

When my GF sees a guy in a movie or something and says, "RAWR", then, yeah, it might hurt a bit. But it's nothing. Do I look at women and think, "RAWR!", yes I do. But I love my GF and she loves me and do you really want to get into the "I would like you to have a better body or prettier face or more money or a better car or, whatever." You can never win at this game.
