1Jessie86 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I recently met a local jazz saxophonist on a dating website in my hometown. We agreed we both want to meet but no plans have been made yet. Unfortunately I'm only in town until Sunday. He knows this. He also knows that I'm one of his biggest fans. What's the best way to push for meeting up soon without coming off as a "groupie?"
grays Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I would message him. "Hey, do you think you'll have time to meet up before Sunday? It'd be fun to have a drink with you before I leave." 3

I apologize, but you do come off like groupie. 1. Only in town for a couple of days 2. Biggest fan 3. Met online....how long were you in town? Do you look for potential dates in different towns you visit? Perhaps he wants more and realizes that someone who's only going to be around a couple of days is not enough. Wanting only sex? 3
OnlyHonesty Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 If he was interested, you wouldn't have to push for anything. If you have to push, then it means there is resistance. Resistance won't exist with interest... 4
salparadise Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 What's the best way to push for meeting up soon without coming off as a "groupie?" Swear three times that you aren't a groupie, then tell him what you intend to do to his sax. If he proposes on the first date, make him wait a few days for the answer. 1

stillafool Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 He won't ask you out because he is not interested. 1

Is it one those fruit tenor things like Kenny G or is it a Baritone? Baritone...go for it. Tenor..too fruity, probably likes guys. Seriously, anyone can use OLD but a musician does tend to meet a lot of folks day to day. Wonder why he uses an online dating site. Plus, do jazz musicians even have groupies? I thought groupies only followed real musicians. 1

I thought I'd expand my search by taking a look at who's available in my hometown. If we clicked, I'd 100% consider moving back to my hometown.
basil67 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I can think of two reasons he's not asking you out 1. he's not that interested 2. perhaps he likes you but isn't interested in dating someone who's not local. In his shoes, I wouldn't do it. 1
spiderowl Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I know quite a few musicians. They are artists and some of them prefer meaningful relationships to casual encounters. Some are quite shy. Usually they are tired after a gig and want to go home. 1
