I used to believe that this saying was true. And maybe it still is.

I recently was in a situation where I was doing all sorts of research and getting all different opinions about whether or not this statement is true.

I had been talking/dating unofficially this guy for 3 months, and a few weeks ago while drunk he texted me saying "wanna date?"

Of course I got my hopes up, I told him he could ask me when he was sober. A week later he told me he just couldn't see himself dating me.

So, are drunk words sober thoughts? I guess it depends on the person. When it comes to relationships I often think people just get lonely when they're drunk and will say just about anything to fill that void...but who knows.

Within reason, I agree with this. I'm definitely a little more open when I have had a drink or two. I'm pretty open sober but I lose my little filter with a couple of beers.

I'm not talking hammered...that's a whole different story, haha!

There used to be a sign posted on the wall at the pub I went to "No one is ugly after 2AM". and then having to gnaw yer arm off in the morning as to not wake up the hippo you just slept with.

I have seen too many people blame drugs/alcohol for their bad behaviors to say that drunken rants are "the truth" coming out due to that factor. "The truth" whatever it is they are saying is how they really feel about themselves and they blame drugs/alcohol for it. The fact of the matter is that the person hates themselves and they lash out at others for their mistakes. I've made my mistakes in life, but I don't blame others for it.

I agree. I think it depends on a lot: the situation, the person, how many drinks (lol), etc. Abuse and alcohol and drug abuse is at a WHOLE different level though!
