Miss Spider Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 If I had looked anymore vanilla on my dating site pics I'd be wearing a nuns veil and I've gotten this message and so have many of my friends. They inbox spam messages to girls and like Hercules says, it's to get you to bite 'cuz they can't think of something normal to say. 1

I think that's mostly it even though guys have said it's to do with my hair - seems a pretty lame reason. It's just a bit of banter really, like calling someone treacle or pickle. I very rarely ever get any kind of sexual messages at all and never have aside from the odd one or two so 'trouble' was fine with me! 1
Gr8fuln2020 Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 (edited) Handful and trouble aren't the same at all. I disagree. The use of 'handful' is clearly used to indicate someone of troublesome or mischievous nature. In fact, it is commonly used as such. "That child is a handful." A quick dictionary check reveals as such. However one prefers to decipher the meanings of the words used, it is not simply flattery. It is flattery + an anticipation of preconceived doubt or questioning. Just my 2-cents. Edited May 7, 2017 by simpleNfit
Miss Spider Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Yep, simplenfit, therein lies the effectiveness of the line. It gets her thinking "what do they mean? How do I look like trouble??" And so she might respons asking him asking him why. It's like a soft 'neg'.

NTV Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Yup. It was certainly intended to solicit a response or curiosity. Or she could look like trouble.
GunslingerRoland Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Men are really intimidated by you, just by your picture. If I had to guess, I'd say you are probably very pretty, but also have a bad ass look, tats, piercings, something like that?
stillafool Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Why are you calling yourself Lolita? I guess you are probably very young and presenting an over sexualised image of yourself, hence "trouble". No, she is 32.
Space Ritual Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Fairly simple reason. Deep down... They want to bang you, but the "trouble"part is fairly simple to explain Op, I take it that you must be extremely good looking. That being said, many guys use the"Trouble" term to indicate that although they would like to get physical with you, that due to your good looks, you may constantly be getting hit on in the real world. And because of that, many guys would probably be totally insecure with a litany of other guys with their tongues hanging out or wolf whistling at you on the street even if you were hanging on some guy's arm. Most any guy who says "I wouldn't have a problem with that" have probably never had an extremely good looking partner or are simply lying. The second thought behind that is also that the "Trouble' moniker may also have the double meaning of your looks making you more likely to break some guy's heart. Kind of like how we men like to think stereotypically of Redheads as being "Wild" and "Trouble". Incidentally I have dated more than one redhead in my life, and they were many things, but never boring. So although the "You Look Like Trouble" is kind of a tired and lame introductory approach, by men doing so, they have already prejudged you to be either not relationship material, or incapable of fidelity based on looks alone. I'm sorry if it sounds sexist, and I guess it is. It is just the way we guys tend to think when we think with our Dicks, which is the only thinking cap a guy really wears on an Online Dating site. Good Luck:) 2
