I assume that you know her name. Every time you pass her in the hall say, "Hi May, how you doing," or something like that and keep walking. Hopefully she will soon figure, "Gosh, we must be friends. I should talk to him." If you don't come up with something better or a good opening give it a try and let us know if it works.
