So I just returned my free rental car and picked up my car that require some tiny repainting (of course insurance pay for it, since it was scratched by someone else that I caught).

then this person who did the rental stuff also came out and leaving, I was surprised that he was leaving too. he said I was waiting for you. (how? since I told no one when I will come). anyhow then conversation went similar like these:

He: where will you go?

Me: Costco

He: what are you doing there?

Me: chicken wings

He: eat yourself

me: yes

he: you live with someone else?

me: my parents, but I pay all the bills

he: do you have kids

me: no, you?

he: no

he: I am going for a drink to relax, you drink

me: yes, but I have an important appointment tomorrow

he: what's the appointment?

me: work related

I was reluctant to talk any further and then he left.

what the heck? do I know him? I only met him twice. Did he try to ask me out or what else?

As a geek, I don't read people well I guess.

Yep, he sounds like a fast worker, but it's really hard to close a deal in one episode.

Yeah, sounds like he was trying to sound you out to see if you were interested in hanging out further.

Did he try to ask me out . . .

With all those questions, the one question he didn't ask you was "would you like to go out sometime"?

He wasn't shy about asking questions so if he was thinking of asking you out, I think he would have done that.

I thought he already had the answer without asking...if he is not too stupid.

I am attracted to intellectual people. how fun is it to walk people to the car and check if there are damages and try to convince people to buy insurance.

oh, he drove a cool pathfinder though. does he own the car? if so, he is rich. but really, who enjoys renting car to people? even if he owns the business.

He is charming...looks like an Arab...I am not a racist, but I don't understand the cultures...

He was awkwardly fishing for an angle to ask you out or it was a bad attempt at small talk. I'm surprised you answered as many questions as you did.

It means he's nosy! The moment he asked "you live with someone else?", I would have said gently and in a friendly tone, "sorry it's personal" :p

In this context he may also have questioned why you, a woman, were traveling alone

Sounds like someone inept in the art of small talk with a stranger, like myself.
