I need advice

I am 20 years old. I have lived in the same town my whole life. I really want to get out and explore what is out there. I was going to college but I took last semester off. I am so indecisive. I want to just pick up and move somewhere. I know that sounds crazy but I do. I have been working for my mom and my stepdad at their law office training to be a paralegal. I do not want to do that but my mom is like "it is such a good opportunity" Yea if I liked it. I just want to get away and meet all new people and start over. I feel there is nothing for me here. I know I am still young but I want to get on with my life. I feel like I am in a slump. I need some advice on what to do. I am sure there is someone out there who knows what I am talking about or has just picked up and moved. I would love to here some stories...I would really appreciate some advice on this. Thanks

Leave, if that is what you really want to do. Although I do suggest finding a job before you go, even if it's just something to get you started.

I think that your parents are trying to provide you with a solid foundation. They want to give you the skills to put food on the table, if life hands you a curve ball.

 

You may be indecisive because you are "afraid" of the changes that you want to make. I'm not sure that just leaving entirely would be a good idea. Why not start out small first? Get out and get a change of scenery by going on extended vacations. Look online for places that you would like to visit. Visit those places and others (something may surprise you) and then decide what you want to do next or why you want to go.

 

There is an old saying, "Don't throw the baby out with the water."

 

I really can't say more than that, because I have a similar question (see "What's the difference") . . . only I'm twice your age! *sigh* (At least you know that you aren't alone.)

I am going on vacation I am leaving this Friday untill the next sunday so it is going to be a good long vacation. The only thing is I am going with the family. That is great and all but I feel I need time away by myself but oh well...I am not complaining. I appreciate your advice...I know I need to get out of this town and explore and I will.

Have you considered going away for college? It will allow you to spread your wings, while still "building your foundation." I would strongly suggest you pursue your education, and possibly build some travel into that - such as Junior year abroad, summer internships in other cities/towns, etc.
