My ex used to get frustrated with me for not trusting him quick enough after he asked for forgiveness. I also felt guilty about not trusting him like he wanted me too.

At some point, I was nice to him to gain his trust too after I made mistakes.

All our efforts just pushed each other away.

Then I realized that we were having trusting issues because we were both kind of manipulative. We were desperate to fix something important to us, and resorted to manipulation without even realizing it.

Real trust only comes from being trustworthy, like doing the right things just because it's right and doing nice things just because it's a choice we make.

Trust is like a credit union. You get a full amount of credit at first, but when you are late on your payments or you break that trust, your credit goes down... its simple.

Why should you keep trusting someone that has done something wrong in order to ask forgiveness? They need to appreciate how delicate and valuable trust is. It is very easy to lose and much harder to gain back.
