Teknoe Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 This happened last week. One of the most bizarre "dating stories" I have even though we never actually met up. So I saw this girl on there, she seemed pretty cool. But she only had one pic, and it was with her and another female friend. I messaged her asking how her week's going. She said good and came right back with "Wanna grab dinner tonight?" I thought it was a little unusual but I'm always up for meeting earlier rather than later as it helps give you a sense of how someone is in "real life" as opposed to a bunch of text on screen. I said sure got a place in mind? And she suggested a high end restaurant and asked me "Your treat?" I am like WTF so I suggest a more casual dining experience. She said okay, and then asked if she could bring her friend along with her (the one in the pic). And if I can pay for her friend too. At this point I'm like whoa that's not cool... then she said "fine I'll just go by myself then." I started getting lots of red flags so I asked her to FaceTime. She said she'll pass and followed up with "bye." I don't respond. 10 minutes later she replies, apologizing and asking if we can still grab dinner later that night, lol. I ignored her. Wow. Very weird. Makes me wonder if it's a catfish. BTW, I did ask for a second picture and she did provide a second picture of herself as "further verification." But the pushiness and the whole friend thing turned me off. Got too many alarm bells and bailed outta there before the meet up could ever happen. POF can be a weird place... 1
selinaluv Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 It can be so strange. A cute women (and I'm a woman) had pinged me a few times asking me how the pickings were for me. Don't think she was hitting on me as her profile said she was searching for a specific kind of guy. After like four messages and me ignoring I responded out of curiosity, which led to a quick back and forth about how men keep commenting on her "assets" and she always has to remove photos. Then she asked me for my number so she could send me some of the crazy things they said. I ignored and the conversation stopped and I am still wondering what that was all about. 1

She's bored and wanted attention. Or a night-lady wanting to share some of HER nude pics. 1
Imajerk17 Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 (edited) It would not surprise me if there was a female or two who decided to use POF (and the dynamics of OLD where so many guys are so thirsty just for a response) to just to get free dinners for themselves (or in this case, even her friend). There are plenty of guys who use OLD to get laid, and there are even people on there who are married but who are representing themselves as single, so why would this be any different? I don't want to sound too cynical. Most people are pretty good, but there are some bad apples out there. I wonder if this woman was an escort. But anyway, next time a woman suggests off the bat that you buy her dinner--or in fact anyone who just asks you for something outright, know that it is no good, very bad! Titanll Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Cool story, bro. Welcome to life. You should have had more fun with her though. You should have said yes to the dinner and when she asked what kind of car you will be on, just say donkey and wait for the reply... Strange folks online, in real life, everywhere to be honest.
Art_Critic Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 it was probably a guy playing around with a fake profile...or a student doing a project... or even more likely an escort.. Escorts use OLD to find customers... 1
Author Teknoe Posted April 21, 2017 Author Posted April 21, 2017 Yeah probably a catfish or an escort. Pass on both, lol. As for continuing to talk with her as another poster suggested, why? What good would come out of that? Once she rejected my FaceTime, I was like "OK, any chance of meeting up just went out the window." You ask to meet me later that night but deny my polite request to FaceTime for one minute to confirm plans and details? Yeah, I'm good. Next.

If you are referring to me about why to continue talking to her...what's another couple of messages to have some fun? She already wasted some of your time. It's not like it takes some great amount of energy to type a snarky reply...I burned about three calories typing this one.
Erik30 Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Sounds like this girl and her friend were bored (maybe also broke) and were looking for a free meal. I can't believe she actually thought you would consider paying for her friend. She probably moved on to the next guy when you stopped replying
