Told me to go kill myself and then laughed that I would be doing him a favor.

OMG, that's about the worst I've read, that's evil. Good riddance on him and may karma bite him.

"Your (at the time 10 year old) son only sees you because he has to"

The next one is a bit more complex but I'll try to explain briefly. I've dealt with a lot of trauma and loss in my life. 2 of my children died, my dad killed himself when I was 14, and there's more but you get the picture. As such, I'm very reluctant to say goodbye to anyone forever. I also hate, almost pathologically, going to bed an on argument. That's what my mum and dad did the day before he died. So these things have affected me in profound ways. There are other ways it has affected me but the main one is that I always have in the back of my mind "How would I feel if this person died tomorrow?" after a disagreement. Perhaps hard for people to understand who haven't experienced what I have, but anyway, after trying to explain this to her so said....

"You use your past as an excuse for your behaviour"

The "behaviour" she is referring to was me wanting to resolve the argument we were having and not be willing to just brush it under the carpet.

It haunts me to this day, ~18 months on.

I'm so sorry! My heart sank for you. Stay strong! That person really didn't deserve you.

Thank you :) I know you are right. I miss her terribly still but even if she was interested, I think self-preservation would kick in.

he said while we were still together yet arguing and me trying to make a point that he should learn to meet me half way with things, compromise coz thats what unconditional love is all about... he said, "unconditional love? ... i never said i loved you unconditionally. My love is totally conditional!"

we are not together now. he is lonely and old. i'm young and have someone way better now

Yikes, that happened with me to my ex. I helped him get back on the road to recovery from some emotional trauma and he threw that same statement almost in my face. Then said we were each others stepping stones LOL.

Makes you wish you never helped them in the first place!

A guy I was dating for a couple months and crazy about broke up with me because I was "too nice", knew I was crushed, came back 2 months later for a booty call (I was totally naive about his intentions back then, but we'd also always had incredible sex so I went with it and hoped we'd reconcile), then met someone else immediately after and said the booty call night was great because it gave him closure.

I dated another guy for a few weeks who turned out to actually be abusive. It took me about a week to catch on that he had been hiding an abusive streak the first month. He was really mean to me after our last sexual encounter and said one of us had enjoyed themselves a lot more than the other (he meant I had enjoyed it and he hadn't, and had no reason to say this other than to be hurtful). I refused to ever speak to him again.

I also dated a guy who broke up with me because I wasn't "athletic" enough. I was in better shape than he was.

I'm good at finding jerks.

So, how athletic was the last guy....let me guess, he was a "great" high

school star (in his own mind of course) what a tool to tell you that

"This relationship should have never happend!" ..

She told me that the day she dumped me.

That really sucked to hear when I knew how much I loved her and how much I put into the relationship.

"if you have a daughter, I hope that she gets raped"

On my 30th birthday.

Posted

"I wanted to marry you"

with a tone of reproach, like he was gonna do me a favor because nobody else wanted me or something. What an ego, I dumped him for being a drunk and a gambler.
