xxgreen20 Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 One of my friends met a girl on Tinder and had a very successful date with her today. They are seeing each other again and are both looking for a relationship. My mom also has told me how great Tinder is and how online dating is basically the way people do it nowadays, so I am thinking about giving it a try. My cousin also met his girlfriend on Match, and they have been together for 18 months now. However, my friend commutes to college, so it would be hard for him to meet a nice girl in person, and my cousin is very busy with work and his kids (he's divorced), so this makes me feel like I'd be selling myself short by going on Tinder because I will be starting a new college in the fall and living on campus, which makes my situation different. My current campus is way too small to date (1,200 students), but my new campus is about 10,000, so it won't be too awkward to date there. Anyway, do you guys think Tinder is worth a shot, or should I definitely not do it? I should add that I am not desperate for a girlfriend either. I am fine being single. I've only had one girlfriend, and that lasted 4 months and ended in September, so I am open to a new girlfriend, but don't want to rush it either.
telemakus Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 If you're good looking do it. If not it'll be depressing. 1
Ieris Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Sure, why not give it a try? If you don't like it you can always delete it.
Author xxgreen20 Posted April 2, 2017 Author Posted April 2, 2017 If you're good looking do it. If not it'll be depressing. I'm average. But I wouldn't be looking for a hookup, but rather a relationship. I just don't know if it's worth it for me with the position I'm in. I've just heard great things about online dating, and I'm unsure of whether I would be selling myself short or if it's a smart idea.
Tressugar Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Be sure to have the time to date with your schooling.
Author xxgreen20 Posted April 2, 2017 Author Posted April 2, 2017 Wow. Thanks for the nice and detailed answers, everybody.

If you're average and you don't have some wonderful high paying job then it's a struggle. Most women on those sites are chasing after about 15% of the hottest men.

Most women on those sites are chasing after about 15% of the hottest men. I wish I was old enough for more "serious" sites, like Match or Christian Mingle. But I'm much too young for any of those besides Tinder. I feel like if I don't have a girlfriend at all by the time I graduate college, then I'll go onto one of those sites.
hercules22 Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 seems like a waste of time using that app these days only get matched with fakes
Mkn1010 Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 If you're a sensitive person, it could well wear your soul down over time and I don't know that there's any worthwhile lessons in any of the headf**ks 2

Hop on and find out OP
Erik30 Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 If you felt like you needed to create a thread about it instead of just trying Tinder, the app is probably not worth it for you. Tinder can be really depressing if you're serious about finding someone, since most people just have it for fun nowadays. (Don't mean hooking up, but they just like swiping profiles) Also an average guy can go days or weeks without getting a single match. Girls seem to have become more picky, and Tinder in general kinda went downhill after they introduced payment features. Sure it's possible to find a girlfriend on Tinder, but you have to be patient and lucky. 1
palmsand Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Of the apps I've used, I've had relatively little activity on Tinder. I think you really need to have your convo game down for the people with no profile description and unknown intentions. When meeting someone, you will never know what to expect, for better or worse.
