Tressugar Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Not too sure what forum to post this under, but feel free to move to the appropriate catagory as you wish. Fresh back on the dating scene and this new guy is telling me that he's attending a wedding for today! That's crazy do ppl really get married on April 1st or is the joke on me? I didn't think ppl would want to get married today because who will take them seriously. Or even the vows seriously. Can you imagine the endless pranks you can pull regarding relationships on said day?
basil67 Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 I wouldn't have given the date a second thought. Are you serious about not taking wedding vows seriously just because of the date? SMH 1
Author Tressugar Posted April 2, 2017 Author Posted April 2, 2017 I just can see someone using the line after being caught in the act cheating that the joke was on them due to the date of the marriage. As twisted it may sound, I've heard it before.
act00 Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 It's a Saturday and the weather is perfect in my region for a wedding. I wouldn't choose the date for myself, but there are people who would think it's the perfect day, funny, fun. My ex and I were wed on a day that made for a great anniversary date - we eloped. I had a friend who got married on Halloween with costumes. Don't judge. They have their reasons, and the jokes surrounding this are par for the course, and I would assume the couple would know and welcome this, as this is their choice. I don't think it lessens the vows and the commitment. April 1st is just a day, and it's a good day. It's a Saturday, and it's not too hot and not too cold, and the weather is cooperating, and it's a little funny. You don't know this couple. What if they met on April Fool's Day, and it's been their inside joke ever since. 2
lana-banana Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Is this for real? I have been to multiple weddings on April Fool's Day, including today. All involved had beautiful, tear-jerking ceremonies, and a lot of laughs too. (In one the bride presented her vows as a research paper.) The weather was perfect too. If this bothers you I think you are taking yourself way, way too seriously. 1
amaysngrace Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 My cousin got married yesterday on April Fools Day after breaking up with his fiancée a month before their wedding three years ago. They had this big elaborate wedding planned, everyone booked a hotel room, his fiancée was very broken-hearted but yesterday she married him anyway. I think the day they chose this time is perfect. 2
Jj66 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 It's actually a very popular day to get engaged. When it falls on a Saturday it's a popular day to get married. This April fools day I asked my girlfriend to marry me. Not knowing if it was a joke or not, she said maybe but let's see the goods first. Smoove moove.
Els Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Wedding venues get filled up pretty quick apparently, so this might be the only Saturday available during the season that they want. I doubt they gave the date a second thought.
Shining One Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Marriage is a legally-binding contract. It's not like getting married on April Fool's Day gives you a legal "out" where that contract is concerned.
