OatsAndHall Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Yeah, about one out of every four "meet me" requests or "interested" notifications that popped up were from spammers towards the end when I was using them. It's sad, but it wouldn't keep happening if guys weren't buying into it and emailing them.
preraph Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 I guarantee you every prostitute or mail order bride of every possible variety from meal-moochers to sugar babies are on OLD trying to wring money and gifts. The easy fix is never give a woman money until you're married to her or she has your baby and never buy her any gifts that can be pawned in the first say 4 months, just flowers and chocolates if you must acknowledge an occasion. Women working the internet won't sit idle long before feeding you a sob story to get money or just acting the diva and trying to convince you they're worth it. They aren't. 1
smackie9 Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Just desperate people trying to make a buck....the only way to combat this is to be a whistle blower and report it. The site makes money from advertising....if they start to lose clientele, they lose the advertisers that pay their wage so they do take it seriously. spamming hurts business. 1
Shanex Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Scammers have existed since the advent of the Internet. Don't believe the girl who ask for a Skype video chat, while her ''boyfriend'' is away. She just wants to record you while you are pleasing yourself and then blackmail to spread the video in Internet nutlands. Should be obvious but need to be repeated. Scammers are just losers. 2
Space Ritual Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Who knows, maybe one of em will take you out for dinner and put some Polonium on your steak... 2
Ami1uwant Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Scammers have been around for years----you generally dont know they are scammers until you start communicating with them. This isnt true just with Match but with other dating websites. You will have scammers or people who arent really from where they claim. About 10 years ago online dating was much more reliable....then only those seriously looking made an effort to be on. But as it became more scocially aceptable and people met online, and with the advertizing you have gotten alot more people who arent serious about, looking for utter fantasy, or are scammers of some sort.
kendahke Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 (edited) Scammers of many stripes have infested all the online dating sites now. You know they're scammers when in the first conversation, they want to take it to private email--expecting you to fork over your contact information without having laid eyes on you. Never EVER masturbate in front of a web cam--because as Shanex so correctly pointed out, they will use this to blackmail you by accusing you of doing this with an underaged person and you have no way counter this because in truth, you don't know who you're actually talking to or who's in on the scam. Always always always copy and paste their profile and emails into a google search and see how many sites from all over the world pop up with the exact same verbiage. Run their pictures through google image search and/or TinEye. Familiarize yourself with scam busting web sites and facebook pages--PM me if you want to know which sites to follow on Facebook, since we can't post links to other sites here. jay1983 Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 I know a kid who made over $300 in a weekend using pics of some girl. He set up a tinder account, a PayPal and sat there playing catfish, telling people he had cancer or something like that.
