Experience with paid vs free dating sites? Paid worth it?

I have only used free apps like OkCupid, bumble etc

 

I haven't really had much luck there. There's a lot of people, but no one I really like.

 

I tried joining match( omgosh it's 29.99 a month?!?!)

 

I have this perception of paid dating sites...I hope I'm wrong...that it's filled with these clean-cut squares in button ups with jeans, nice, but overly polite in a try-hard way, who choose upscale dining for a first date and come on strong about commitment from the get-go..Probably many of whom are on the older side..(I'm mid 20s) and mid to upper mid class who are ready for want babies and picket fence relatively soon, practicing religious(predominantly Christian)

 

 

I also picture the rest of them to be sociopathic people who don't diverge much from the aforementioned descrip but just fake being nice with s different agenda...

 

 

Am I wrong? No knock to people putting in effort to settle down, but that's just not who I am at this stage in my life. I want something serious, but I don't want to go in it all orchestrated with a clear agenda. I want someone who feels the same way. Someone who is open to love, but isn't putting in a lot of effort to find it, They want a relationship, but they're fine being alone. Is that even possible? But if you're paying monthly you're putting in effort to find someone.

 

I like laid back, casual dates with no expectations

 

But the free ones have soooo much junk in them.... and maybe my impression is off and I can find my type on there. The problem is I can't really see until pay? Or can I ? Match is the lesdt user -friendly dating site I've ever used but maybe i need to just get used to it.

 

 

Can anyone who has used both tell me which they preferred and if they found paid worth it? And perhaps dispel myth about the types of guys on there?

NOPE, not worth it, in fact you're more than likely to be wasting money on paid sites like Match.com because the majority of hte profiles are of NON-subscribers...and if you PAID for a membership, email THEM...they wont' respond because they are NOT subscribers"

Oh man...i was concerned about that too. Small userbase, lots of inactives, fake, of unpaid s to make it seem more active. Thanks for the heads up!

I would assume the FREE sites have so much "junk" simply because that is

the way THEY MAKE MONEY (advertising). I would venture to guess that you do not need any sort of dating site in all reality unless you are simply in an area void of any potential dating prospects. I would suggest you read some of your posts and realize you are a very exceptional lady with a wonderful outlook on life as a whole

Paid sites just give you literally 10-15% more exposure and promotion than 'regular' non-paying members.

 

Of course you have all the generic perks, such as private messaging, gifting and whatever else they tend to offer.

 

Do I think it's worth it? personally, no. You'd be better off spending £50 or so on a night out with some friends and browsing socially.

Ideally a paid site where all personals were from active paying members would be better than a free site.

The age range skews older on paid sites if those are the men you're looking for. There's also fewer options because many people don't want to pay. Why would you pay when there's so many free apps?

Although we all think we should be in love all the time or have some sort of mate. I am actually just letting the major focus of finding love to fate.

 

I think that the actual looking for love is whats giving some of us problems. We make friends by just being sociable. Why can't love be the same. Let it flow into your life. Whenever I try to force it or try to think about it. It does not come.

 

So these sites are a bit artificial. To be truthful. Unless you have the look that someone is looking for. You will never be chosen. Its hard for me to let go of the search for love. I have to for my own sanity.

I'm thinking about joining Match too. They should give you a free trial for a few months so you can try it out first.
