In love with the idea of being in love

I never understood this. Can someone define this for me? I think this is what my BF has. (Like its some disease!)

When a person is In Love with the IDEA of being in Love it means they are all about the concept of having someone special, having a relationship and often times it doesn't matter if the person they are persuing or with is actually "right" for them or not... they are in love with the concept but not so much the person they are with...

My 3 and 1/2 cents :p

Not sure I'm able to define this either...but I feel positve it happened to me once.

And yeah, what Merin said.

The first thing that came to my head was:

Your IN love with LOVE but not the actually person you SAY you love! You want the fairy tale and the love songs with butterflies all around and ANY MAN, doesn't matter because you make yourself believe your IN love with someone when in reality it's just the feeling of being with someone and thinking you love them.

Does that make sense because I just lost myself!:laugh:

i had to read this post when i saw the title because it was a super-frustrating thing to figure out about my ex when we were already into our relationship.

they want to be "in love" all the time only in most cases, they don't really know what love is....they want that honeymoon period all the time and when it wears off they move on to someone who can give them that feeling of being "in love".

So by my BF telling me he loves me after only 2 months...He's in love with the idea of being in love right? Or so it seems.

JS17,

This is usually much more true for women than men.

Men just want to "tap it' and it has nothing to do with being in-love.

They may tell you they are in-love (all the while they have their eyes on another prize).

If the "honeymoon period" ends a relationship then it was never love but lust.

this was my point. they think they are "in love" but they don't really know what love is then, what they're feeling is lust.

i really don't know whether this is more common in men than women, i just know in this one particular case i came across this concept with a man whom i had a longer term relationship with. he had a lot of other issues that probably turned him towards this but i digress.

Men just have a harder time falling in love but when they do, watch out, it's crazy. Woman fall in love with a good looking man, who makes good money and treats them like shyt. <----(J/k)

I think women fall faster in-love than men but men fall harder. When a man falls in love he will give his all for that women. He will worship her. I have been "in-love" a couple of times and I knew the difference between lust and love...

I know, but some woman would have probably gotten offended and God knows we don't want to do that here in LS. :p

It's the 'fantasy' gooshy feelings inside that rule...The idea of being inlove, having it all and having a little perfect life. Putting the other person on a pedistool and thinking their s*** doesn't stink!!
