It will get better!

If you are young and this is your first or a rare heartbreak then know this, you will get over it and one day this person will mean NOTHING to you. "Believe me."

One thing my parents never told me when I was young is that I would be heartbroken at least once in my life (its been more than once unfortunately : ). So there was no talk about being aware of the intense emotions that come with that girl/guy you cannot get enough of, sexually or otherwise. You are young and deep in it and you don't consider how it could go wrong. Then it does and it's like a shot out of nowhere. You scream why? and how?, it was all going so well.

Yet, more than 40% of marriages end in divorce. And as you can see from this board heartbreak is endemic. Some stories are typical, others are downright cruel.

So, parents, talk to your kids about this and try to save them some hurt. At least they will not be walking in blind.

And the young and heartbroken, YOU WILL BE FINE. Unfortunately, your story is pretty typical. Do your best to divert your attention and thoughts. I know its tough. But do your best to lessen the pain. This means engaging with society and staying active. And one day you will look back and think how silly it was to be all ga-ga over so-and-so. Because its possible by that time there will have been many so-and-so's.

Good luck!
