Loud_but_shy Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 I'm in love with my manager. The manager above him has hinted on several occasions that he likes me. He shows he likes me through his body language and behaviour but we are both respectable professional people so I believe this is why we have never acted on it. His leaving the company next week and its eating me alive that I haven't told him and I have his number but I want to remain in contact with him afterwards, and would like to ask him if we can. I am very confident in other areas of my life, but regarding telling men how I feel I am very shy. This is holding me back and I don't want to miss this opportunity and will risk rejection. I don't want a promotion or anything so career wise it won't affect me. How can I approach the subject with him or what should I say?

You are no longer in a professional relationship so your career won't be compromised if things don't work out. Perhaps you can ask him out for a drink, have a little alcohol and pluck up the courage before telling him. It seems he likes you also, so I would take the risk. If it doesn't work out, then be proud of yourself for having the courage to tell someone how you feel. Many people go through life full of 'what its' and lose out on potential happiness because they didn't have the courage to follow their hearts. 1
