My friend wants me to go out with her boyfriend's friend, who has had 2 DUI's and was arrested for failing to show up to court when he was 27. He's 31 now. I've only met him once, and he seems like he's a really nice guy, but ugh.

What should I do? Such a turn off..

What to do ? sounds like he has some addiction issues... maybe he sobered up and is clean. maybe not...

While a few dates won't kill you you need to make sure you protect yourself emotionally as to not get sucked into possible addiction drama.. meaning no sex till you are on good firm ground with him.

Personally I might pass on it but then again I'm also a second chance type of person so maybe go on a date.. ask him about his records and his addiction issues.. if he hasn't been sober a minimum of a year then run.

He was drinking the night I met him, but he didn't drive home. I didn't find out about the DUI's until afterwards.

I would pass...

Alcohol abuse and poor judgment... It's not like he was 19 and he failed to show in court. It was just a few years ago, he should have been old enough to know to show up for his court date.

Lots of people are really nice guys... Until they start drinking.

I can't tolerate irresponsible adults. Dealbreaker.

For your friend's sake be polite & social when you see him but there's no need to date him. Always make sure you have a safe ride home when around him.

Yes, DWI's are bad, however, if you pool your friends you'll find that many of the guys have a dwi, many more won't admit it. That doesn't make them a bad person, but you'll need to learn if the drinking is a problem, that should be easy to ascertain though.
