Too soon to be dating or perfectly fine?

My ex of 5 months broke up with me a week ago. I'm typically a strong advocate of not dating/rebounding after a breakup and just being single. However, my ex broke up with me after 6 weeks of bi-continental long distance. I was only back for a week when he broke up with me. I'm sad about the breakup and it not working out but part of me is sad about the things we promised to do together when I returned. I feel like for 6 and a half weeks I was looking forward to you know all the lovey dovey things couples do and he had been telling me how excited he is to do all these things with me which made the breakup worse. That's what prompted me to date right away.

I generally have no issue meeting guys and scoring dates. Before me and my ex got together, I was dating and meeting guys all the time and had to let go of a few guys just to focus on my ex. In just 1 week post-breakup, I've had 3 attractive (inside and out) guys express interest in dating me, 1 date happened last night (it went well and the guy wants to go on another) and another is scheduled next week.

I've also booked a trip to an island to do volunteer work in 2.5 weeks (the trip is 2 weeks long) so I'm not expecting to jump into a relationship in the next month.

Is dating so soon a bad idea to you guys? Especially if I'm making it clear to every guy I want to take it slow and see where things go?

I don't find very fulfilling at all to date if your heart is still mending from a BU. You can't put your best foot forward, either. But if you feel emotionally recovered, then it is ok.

If you are over the break up date all you want. Just don't try to mourn the loss of your relationship & date at the same time.

Go volunteer then see how you feel when you get home.
