winny Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 With Valentine's Day coming up thought of asking this question. What are some of the most romantic gifts you have given or received on a Valentine's Day? Also during the initial 3 months of dating do gifts carry any sentimental significance? If a guy gives you a heart pendant, what would that mean? 2
smackie9 Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 One valentine's day I made a beer bouquet for my husband with all 12 bottles of Budweiser.... 4
Jj66 Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 Oh crap, Valentine's Day is approaching. At least that means March 14th isn't far behind 6

basil67 Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 While I'm sure I've received V Day gifts as a teenager, that was a long time ago and I can't remember any now. My best Valentines Day was at a restaurant. The chef didn't arrive and the poor staff did their best to try and cater. It was a disaster from start to end and all the diners were talking to each other and making jokes. The table opposite us was thinking about ordering in pizza. I know we didn't end up getting our food, but I can't remember what we did after. I don't think we ever did another Valentines - nothing could have topped that night in terms of fun.
kmpisces Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 The biggest gift I received on Valentine's Day was an Engagement ring. Of course, gifts can carry great sentimental value even in the first few months.
DarrenB Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 Serenaded her last year with an acoustic melody of one of her favourite songs by The Smiths - 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now' and one of mine Daughter - 'Run'. I'm a keen guitarist and she had never heard me sing properly, so I thought it'd be nice. She had given me a platinum guitar pick (plectrum) with 'I pick you' engraved on it. I had bought a necklace from one of my relatives, who had kept it from her first love dating back to 1998 - they are now married. I gave it to her for the sentimental value of which it holds. I'll say any gift, regardless of time spent together holds some sort of sentimental value, as there's always normally a reason behind the specific gift given/received. But personally, it's their time and the time you spend together on the occasions which is more precious. It's a memory to cherish forevermore. 2
Jj66 Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 Not much strikes more fear in the heart of a man than Valentine's Day with someone he hasn't known long. He doesn't know what her expectations are so he can't be sure of what message he will send. It will be our first Valentine's Day together. I'm thinking about giving my girlfriend a gift certificate for a massage at a local spa.

Shining One Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 Burned her an audio with a bunch of her favorite songs. I made a custom CD label and CD booklet with all of the lyrics for the songs. This was in the 90's, so it was a huge deal at the time.Planned a date at the park. I went there earlier and hid 18 of her favorite roses in various locations around the park. We then walked around and collected them before having a picnic with her favorite dish.Ate nothing but ramen noodles and bread for a month so I could save up for a necklace she wanted.A vinyl copy of "Slippery When Wet" signed by Richie Sambora. She loved Bon Jovi.I think I burned myself out on effort in my younger days. I don't put as much effort in these days. 1
Jj66 Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 I would like a steak dinner and........ Lol. She already knows my expectations for March 14th: a medium rare filet mignon paired with a nice bottle of wine that we saved from our trip to Italy last year and a dessert appropriate for the occasion.
Dis Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Around Valetines day last year I was dating a love bomber (of course I was unaware of it at the time) For Valentines day he made me a huge windchime (4ft tall) from scratch. He was a welder Damn that guy put on quite the show I painted him a 5ft by 4ft acrylic painting When he dumped me out of nowhere I used the keys to his apartment that he gave me, walked in while he was at work, quickly wrapped the painting in a tarp, put in in my friend's truck and high tailed it out of there. He was on steriods and had a foul temper...but I wasnt going to leave 12 hrs of blood, sweat and paint behind He asked me to take him back a few weeks later Nah, dont think so....and please do keep the windchime (with my name etched in it) 2

Dis Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Donate it maybe? I was holding out hope that I could sell it. Money is tight with school and I've been painting since I was 13 so I've gotten pretty good But I wouldnt know the first thing about selling my art and I've heard its pretty difficult to do

I've given plenty of gifts to women over the years that I would have wanted back after they dumped me. I would never think of entering their homes when they weren't there and taking it back. Of course, as a man, I'm far more likely to face consequences for doing that than you are.

Shining One Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 He said I could have it back I left his keys on his counter and I returned his shirts ironed and hung on hangers Never looked back Well, that's different then. Your previous post made it sound like you stole it back. I'm surprised you did his laundry though. I've always given clothes back in a (clean) garbage bag. 1

I try to leave relationships on a good note...well on my end at least He probably didnt deserve that but I try to take the high road during break ups (except for once) 1
sarah999 Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 On a related note, if your bf of several months doesn't give or do anything for you on V Day, is that bad? Because mine is stingy and I'm considering running for the hills before he gets a chance to not give me anything. 1
