I work as a substitute teacher. I was excluded from one particular school a few weeks ago, the kids were out of control and there was nothing I could do to control their bad behaviors. I got a letter saying I was excluded from this school. It's a failed district with bad kids in it.

Last week I was subbing at another in another city, I was to be the intervention specialist. It was for the ED room (ED - Emotional Disabilities), self contained. The kids were unlike anything I had ever experienced with their behaviors. I reached a point where I said there was nothing I could do anymore. When one of them speared me in the back with a cabinet door, I said "I can't do this anymore" and I left. I went down to the front office, showed them the mark on my back, and said "I'm done. I'm sorry, I just can't do this anymore." I left with the blessing of the principal, and said to the receptionist that I liked working as a sub for this school, it's a good population in general to work with, but I could not do this anymore. THen I got a letter saying that I had been excluded from the whole city's schools from working there anymore.

I think that is very unfair. I tried very hard to make it work but it was insane unlike anything. Should I contact the HR rep on this tomorrow? I am beyond annoyed.

Anything? I don't know what to do. Someone (outside of this forum) said to just let it go.

I contact them to state my viewpoint, just to see what they said.

You make a living in NE Ohio subing?

I'm assuming you belong to a union? I would contact them first, they take all of that money for a reason. They should be supporting you with something like this.

This is a very unusual situation though, principals are quite aware if there is a classroom which is a problem, and wouldn't be surprised to find out a teacher had troubles in it, especially a sub. Is someone trying to set you up by putting you in those situations in the first place?
